The Food Authority has been issuing orders or advisories or guidelines from time to time so as to ensure the safety and wholesomeness of the foods imported into the country. Through an Order dated 13 July, 2017 the FSSAI has now suppressed certain orders and advisories related to imports of foods as new regulations have now been formulated to replace earlier orders and advisories. Some of the advisories (1 to 8 in the table below) have now been covered under the Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations, 2017. Numbers 9 to 11 as given in the table below have been covered under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulation, 2016.

The earlier advisories and guidelines have now been superseded through amendments in the FSS (Food Products Standards & Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 along with introducing Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations 2017, and therefore the following advisories and guidelines will no longer be in force so FBOs importing foods must not follow them any longer.
